Burn ban issued by Arcadia-Glencoe FD

The Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Department has issued a burn ban throughout its district. 

On Monday, the ban was issued and made effective immediately for residents in the towns of Arcadia and Glencoe. A notice sent by the fire department said they are aligning the department with the Department of Natural Resources regulations that have been put in place.

The ban is to help reduce fire occurrences and exposure of fire fighters and first responders to COVID-19. 

The notice, signed by A-G Fire Chief Jeff Halvorsen said “emergency responders have an increased need to take pandemic precautions so they remain available to continue to protect the public from wildfires and reduce the spread of COVID-19. We appreciate your patience and understanding.” 

The ban was issued three days after an incident near Whitehall in which an 86-year-old man died from injuries he sustained after catching fire (see story elsewhere in the Times).
