The Arcadia Tickfer-Erickson American Legion Post 17 high school legion baseball team kept itself busy last week.

Post 17 played five games in four days, adding a win to their record in the process.

A trip to Black River Falls was on the schedule for Arcadia (2-6 this summer) this Monday, and the team was set to host Cochrane-Fountain City on Wednesday as well as Tomah on Thursday.

La Crosse   6 Arcadia   2

La Crosse 13 Arcadia 12

A six-run fifth inning was the difference in the first of two games against La Crosse Post 52 last Monday.

Post 52 scored all six of their runs in a row, and Arcadia added two late runs in the seventh.

Both teams had four hits. Arcadia got four scoreless innings from starting pitcher Login Scow, and Prestin Scow finished the game.

The second game on Monday saw much more scoring on both sides.

Arcadia took a sixth-inning lead in the rubber match against La Crosse, but the hosts recovered to gut out the high-scoring win.

Connor Weltzien, Carson Martin and Maverick Drazkowski all had a pair of hits to lead Arcadia on offense, but La Crosse out-hit Arcadia 14 to 8.

Three pitchers saw time on the mound for Arcadia.

Bangor 9 Arcadia 1

Tuesday saw another strong performance from Martin, but Arcadia couldn’t score enough to beat Bangor’s legion team on the road.

Martin batted 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles for Arcadia, which scored its lone run in the fourth inning to tie the game 1-1.

Bangor rattled off eight unanswered runs over the next three innings.

Carson Wozney got the start for Arcadia, allowing four hits and three earned runs.

Arcadia 12 West Salem 0

West Salem 4 Arcadia 0

The Raiders split a pair of games last Thursday with a program they know well from their regular season Coulee Conference schedule.

The first game went according to plan, as Arcadia scored in double digits to give them their second win of the summer season.

Arcadia needed just four innings to rack up its offense at home, which again saw Weltzien and Martin leading with a pair of hits. Teammate Logan Aspenson also had two hits.

Post 17 held West Salem to a single hit, collecting eight of their own.

Weltzien played a big part in that defense, throwing all four innings while striking out seven batters.

Game two against West Salem went to the visitors, as Arcadia was shut out despite having more hits (five) than West Salem (three).

The visitors grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a pair of early hits. They added another run in the third inning and ended the game with another score in the fifth.

Pitchers Login Scow, Sobotta and Prestin Scow worked for Arcadia, striking out four and walking two.
