Arcadia seeks replacement for departing board member
For the second time this year, the Arcadia school board is seeking a community member to fill an opening.
The board unanimously approved the resignation of vice president Randy Nilsestuen at its meeting last Monday, with board member Brian Steinlicht absent.
Nilsestuen served on the board for 25 years.
“This is a decision that I’ve been mulling over for some time. There is no single reason behind this, but rather it simply feels like this is the right time for me to step away,” Nilsestuen said in his resignation letter. “I’ve enjoyed the time I’ve spent with you, my fellow board members, and I’m confident you will continue to make decisions that are good for kids.”
A new board member will be appointed by a board vote in the next 60 days or board President Paul Servais will appoint someone to fill the opening if it is not filled in that time.
Diana Tempski has been appointed as the new vice president of the board, according to the district website.
Advertisements seeking applicants will be posted in the coming weeks, and Servais hoped to appoint a new board member by its regular meeting on Aug. 21.
The board will accept applications, which can be sent to the district office, until Aug. 14.
