Ettrick seeks new village trustee

The Ettrick village board is looking to fill a vacancy left by the death of former trustee Josh Hanson.

Hanson passed away unexpectedly in October and his position on the board has remained vacant. At last week Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting, trustees decided it was time to move forward.

Trustees approved placing an advertisement in the Trempealeau County Times and the Arrow Shopper asking village residents who may be interested to contact Village Hall. If they have multiple people interested, they will interview the candidates and vote on the new trustee.

Trustees said they thought it was important to be transparent about the process so any interviews will be conducted during board meetings.

“The more open we are, the better off we are,” Trustee Harold Olson said.

“I couldn’t agree more,” President Marc Baures responded.

The term expires in April of 2026.
