I/G athletes place at Stout Elite meet

Two Independence/Gilmanton athletes cracked the top five at the Stout Elite meet hosted by University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie last Thursday.

Mason Severson placed fourth in the high jump to account for all of the points scored by the I/G boys. Taylor Sylla was fifth in the 3,200 meter run for the I/G girls to score four of the team’s five points, the other came from Sophia Kampa, who was eighth in the 800.

The I/G girls tied for 16th in the team standings, while the boys were 20th. Osceola topped the boys competition and Bloomer won the girls side.

Last week’s meet concluded the indoor track meet portion of the season for the I/G teams. The Indees were scheduled to host a meet on Thursday of this week to kick off the outdoor portion of the season.
