Man charged after Blair gun incident

An Arcadia man is scheduled to be back in court in May to face felony charges that he allegedly pointed a gun at two individuals at a Blair mechanics shop.

Douglas William Stegerwald, 59, of W20581 Howley Lane, is charged with two felony counts of use of a dangerous weapon, first degree recklessly endangering safety, and misdemeanor counts of operating a firearm while intoxicated and disorderly conduct. He was released from Trempealeau County jail after posting $2,500 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 31.

Stegerwald is accused of returning to a shop on West River Road April 1 and, after using the bathroom, pointing a gun at the heads of two individuals sitting in a car, according to court records. Deputies later executed a search warrant at the man’s residence and reportedly found a loaded gun matching the description of the two individuals, according to court records.

In an interview with Stegerwald at the sheriff’s office April 2, the man reportedly told deputies the two individuals locked him in the bathroom, court records say. Stegerwald said he called the two names but denied pointing a gun at them, according to the criminal complaint.
