Red Hawks sweep BRF in legion ball

The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau legion baseball program earned a sweep over Black River Falls’ summer team last week.

Post 354 won both of its games against Black River Falls last Wednesday at home to improve to 4-4 this summer.

The La Crosse A’s hosted Post 354 this Wednesday before the G-E-T squad readied for a visit from Arcadia Post 17 (4-2) this Thursday.

Have a day, Caiden Brady.

Brady left his fingerprints all over the first of two wins over Black River Falls last week at home.

Brady pitched the first six innings on Wednesday, striking out 10 opponent batters. He walked two others and allowed three hits and one earned run.

Brady was also Post 354’s offensive playmaker, hitting 3-for-4 with a double. Post 354 had seven hits total, including additional doubles from Oliver Marley and Myles Marley.

Ben Filla closed the game, striking out two batters and not allowing a hit to the visitors in one inning.

The home team scored a handful of runs on four hits in game two on Wednesday as they needed only five innings to secure the sweep.

Pitching was again an asset for Post 354 — Calvin Davis struck out seven Black River Falls batters across four innings, and Oliver Remus added another K for the hosts in the fifth and final inning.

Davis and Remus held the visitors to a pair of hits.

Nicholas Crum hit 2-for-3 and brought home three runs for Post 354. Ben Hansen’s double stood as the game’s only extra-base hit.
