Another community testing site planned in Arcadia

            The Trempealeau County Health Department has planned its fourth COVID-19 community testing site and second in Arcadia, to be held this Saturday.

            Arcadia was home to the first community testing site on May 20 where 180 people were tested with five positive results. It wasn’t until July, however, that the pandemic began hammering the area. Two community testing sites were held in the month of July, 158 tests were administered at Eleva-Strum High School on July 13 with 18 positive results. On July 28, 121 tests were administered at Blair-Taylor High School with 12 positive results. 

            Community testing returns to Arcadia High School, 756 Raider Drive, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the county health department, county emergency management team and the Wisconsin National Guard on hand to administer tests. 

            The COVID-19 testing event is for any Wisconsin resident age five or older experiencing at least one symptom of COVID-19. Symptoms of COVID-19 can be mild and include: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or new loss of taste or smell. 

            Testing also is available for anyone who has been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Testing will be done by nasal swab and there is no cost to participate. Event organizers ask that all community members wear a mask at this event to protect the staff collecting information.
