Arcadia, Luther boys basketball programs team up to fight cancer

While the Arcadia and Onalaska Luther boys basketball teams will compete on the court, they’ll be joining forces for a greater cause.

The teams are hosting a Coulee vs. Cancer fundraiser this week, culminating with opportunities to donate during their game to be played at the Wanek Center in Arcadia this Friday. Coulee vs. Cancer t-shirts will be sold during the game and a “Miracle Minute” will be held at halftime. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m.

The fundraising began well before the game, however. Both schools are conducting a “coin war” to see who can raise the most money. Buckets have been set up in the offices for both schools with coins counting as a positive contribution toward the school and paper money counting as negative contributions to the opposing school. The school with the highest positive amount at the end of the week will make the opposing coach wear their school t-shirt for warm-ups on Friday

The money raised by the Arcadia program will go to the American Cancer Society.
