Blair-Taylor baseball gets first win of 2022

Blair-Taylor is winless no more for the 2022 baseball season after the Wildcats picked up their first win of the year in an 18-8 triumph over Augusta last Thursday.

The win followed a loss to Pepin/Alma on Tuesday. Blair-Taylor (1-4 this season) was scheduled to play five games in as many days this week, starting with a home bout against Eleva-Strum on Monday. 

They were set to visit Cochrane-Fountain City on Tuesday and Melrose-Mindoro on Wednesday, returning home on Thursday to face Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran before going back on the road for another matchup with Eleva-Strum on Friday.

Pepin/Alma scored two runs in each of the first five innings to build a comfortable lead on Tuesday, with the Wildcats adding a run in the third and fifth innings.

The Wildcats conceded 14 hits and six walks to four strikeouts between pitchers Eli Swenson and Anthony Oldendorf.

Swenson added a double on offense and had one of Blair-Taylor’s six hits–Cain Fremstad and Shramek had two each.

B-T 18 Augusta 8

Blair-Taylor got on the right side of the win column for the first time this season with a lopsided win over Augusta last Thursday.

The Wildcats scored runs in all six innings, but their best performance came in the third inning–after Augusta took a 6-4 lead by scoring five runs in the top of the third inning, Blair-Taylor ripped off six runs of their own to close the third.

They added eight more scores across the next three innings to earn their first win. Shramek had a perfect day at the plate, batting four-for-four with six RBI and two doubles. 

Tavian Shramek threw seven strikeouts and allowed seven hits through five innings before Flynn closed the game by allowing two hits and throwing one strikeout to end the game.
