Indees swat Hornets to finish regular season

The Independence/Gilmanton softball team controlled two games as they swept Alma Center Lincoln last week Tuesday.

The Indees took early leads in both games as they scored wins of 10-3 and 5-0 to finish the regular season with an 11-8 record.

Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament play began for the (4) Indees on Tuesday of this week as they hosted (5) Kickapoo in a regional semifinal game. The winner will play again on Thursday, likely against (1) Blair-Taylor, the undefeated Dairyland Conference champions.

The sectional semifinal round is set for this coming Tuesday with the sectional final to be played on Thursday. 

I/G 10 AC Lincoln 3

The Indees jumped ahead early and pulled away late.

I/G scored three runs in each of the first two innings as Hilari Klopp hit into an error that brought in the first run. Adison Pronschinske added and RBI single then scored on a double by Rhianna Theisen.

Lyda Evans tripled a run home in the second before Klopp smacked a two-run homer that made the score 6-0.

The Hornets stung the Indees for three in the bottom of the third, but the Indees got all of them back in the top of the fourth.

Adison Pronschinske doubled in two before Theisen singled in another, making the score 9-3. Klopp added an RBI triple in the fifth.

Klopp was two-for-four with three RBIs, while Aubrie Pronschinske, Adison Pronschinske and Theisen also had two hits. Adison Pronschinske had three RBIs and Theisen batted in two.

Evans got the win, pitching all five innings with seven hits and two walks allowed in the three-strikeout performance. 

I/G 5 AC Lincoln 0

The Indees took an early lead and Leah Sylla kept them in control.

The I/G pitcher struck out four, while allowing four hits and nine walks as she worked out of several jams throughout the game for the shutout win.

The Indees put up three runs in the bottom of the first. They took the lead when Aubrie Pronschinske scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Klopp. Theisen then brought two runs home with a single. 

Klopp brought in two in the second with a double that scored Emma Cowen and Evans. That’s all the Indees would get as Sylla kept the Hornets off the board.

Aubrie Pronschinske, Evans and Klopp all had two hits as the Indees totaled nine. Klopp had three RBIs, Theisen had two.
