B-T boys win DC XC championship

With three runners finishing inside the top 10 and five in the top 15, the Blair-Taylor boys cross country team won the Dairyland Conference championship over host Cochrane-Fountain City last Thursday.

While C-FC’s Wes Pronschinske cruised to the individual title, the Wildcats had more depth than the Pirates. Kristoffer Sandal finished second – 50 seconds behind Pronschinske — while Delorean Peterson was fourth. Jacob Olson also cracked the top 10, taking seventh while Anthonly Oldendorf was 13th and Ryan Flynn was 15th. The team’s sixth and seventh runners, Juan Lopez and Ben Kidd, took 27th and 34th, respectively.

Whitehall finished fifth in the team standings, led by Titus Buhl, who was 16th individually. Matthew Poulos finished 21st; Brayden Lisowski, 24th; Oriah Anderson, 29th; Nolan Thompson, 32nd; Ashton Hanson, 37th and Theodore Mikesell, 38th.

I/G had one boy competing in the race as Charlie Baize took 20th.

The Indee girls team had two runners place inside the top 10, but C-FC dominated the meet. The Pirates had the top two finishers and five runners place inside the top nine with their sixth runner finishing 12th.

Taylor Sylla led the Indees by taking fifth, while Gracie Rombalski placed eighth. Leah Sylla was 15th for the Indees, Kia Back, 19th; Angie Martinez, 27th; Bianca Najera, 34th and Andie Laehn, 35th.

Ella Halverson led B-T, taking 24th while Kelsey Lien was 32nd.

B-T, I/G and Whitehall will all run at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division Three Osseo-Fairchild sectional on Saturday.

The top two teams in the sectional and five individuals who are not on those teams will advance to the state meet in Wisconsin Rapids the following weekend.
