Tidquist fights off write-in challenge, Kindschy to remain county coroner
A late challenge from a registered write-in didn’t change the expected result in the race for the Trempealeau County Clerk of Court, while the incumbent county coroner will return the position after winning a race between two registered write-ins.
Tidquist wasn’t expected to have any competition after winning the August primary, but Mary Lee, one of the three Republican candidates Tidquist defeated in that primary, announced on Oct. 25 that she would be running as a registered write-in. Lee received some support with 565 write-in votes, but Tidquist ran away with the race, totaling 9,637 votes. There were an additional 113 write-in votes.
Bonnie Kindschy wasn’t expected to be the Trempealeau County Coroner after, apparently, deciding not to run for reelection earlier this year. However, she registered as a registered write-in and won reelection with 988 votes, topping another registered write-in, David Anderson, who managed 382. There were an additional 255 write-in votes.
Elsewhere in Trempealeau County, Brett Semingson won a second term as the sheriff, totaling 10,493 votes as he ran unopposed. There were 166 write-in votes for other candidates for sheriff.
