Students at Arcadia Elementary School celebrated the 100th day of school with more than just coloring books and classroom activities this year.

The school instead held a building-wide food drive to help the local food pantry, with the goal being for every grade to donate at least 100 nonperishable food items.

Last Friday the school celebrated the students’ kindness in a ceremony, where students learned they had collected 345 items for local people in need. Students were also educated on how the food pantry works, where they can find the pantry and why it is important in the community.

Two students in Cataleya Herrera and Mya Kamrowski got their own special shoutout during Friday’s ceremony for donating 100 items each, including some items kids may need for school such as winter coats.
