La Crosse man charged for Arcadia child assault

An arrest warrant was issued last Friday for a LaCrosse man who is accused of sexually assaulting an Arcadia child from the ages of 7 to 11.

Charged with two counts of felony repeated sexual assault of a child and felony incest is Luis E. Chavez Esalera, 29, of 210 Avon St. #4. It was determined that Esalera is closer than a second cousin to the victim, according to court records.

Police began their investigation in November of 2022 when a woman reported to Arcadia Police Chief Diana Anderson that she had been assaulted repeatedly beginning in 2008 and ending in 2012, court records say. Officers reportedly interviewed the man in January, and he acknowledged what he said were “despicable” incidents, the criminal complaint says.
