G-E-T softball improves to 2-0 with thrashing of Panthers

A dominant win over a conference opponent earned the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School softball team a 2-0 start to the 2023 season.

The Red Hawks took care of the West Salem Panthers with a 12-0 win last Thursday, their first Coulee Conference win of the year.

Offense was no concern for the visitors at West Salem High School, as five different batters registered at least two hits.

Haley Giemza led the Red Hawks by going 3-for-4 at the plate with a trio of RBI, while Maggie Bistodeau, Elie Cox, Caydence Kokott and Caroline Mack each had a pair of hits.

Kokott and Cox also had two RBI apiece. Shayna Kirkey got the start on the mound and held the Panthers to one hit while striking out seven.

This week, G-E-T was scheduled to host Holmen on Monday as well as Viroqua on Tuesday. They’re set to round out the week with a visit to Arcadia this Thursday.
