Knights take down Raiders in Coulee softball action

A season after reaching the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division Four state semifinal game, the Onalaska Luther high school softball team showed it still has some power in its 2023 lineup.
The Knights scored early and often in a home matchup with Arcadia last Thursday, beating the Raiders 14-3 in six innings. The game preceded a loss to Altoona on Friday, no further information from that game was reported to the Times.
Arcadia (1-7 overall, 1-2 Coulee Conference) will look for a quick reset as the Raiders host West Salem this Tuesday and visit Viroqua on Friday.

Luther grabbed an early lead last week with a four-run first inning and spread more offense throughout the game.
Five different players recorded at least two hits, and the Knights finished with 16 as a team. The hosts hit a pair of home runs.
Arcadia found some offense in the top of the sixth inning, scoring three runs.
Kiley Fitzpatrick scored the Raiders’ first run thanks to a sacrifice fly from Whitney Sonsalla before an error by Luther on a Lauren Conrad ground ball allowed Sonsalla and Tessah Ely to score a few pitches later.
Samantha Berg led Arcadia with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Kaitlyn Bremer pitched five innings, striking out six Luther batters and walking none.
