La Crosse Logan sweeps Sporty Salsman Invite

The La Crosse Logan track and field team did enough to edge the host Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Red Hawks and win both the girls and boys team titles at last Friday’s annual Sporty Salsman Invitational at G-E-T High School.

The Red Hawks finished second as a team on both sides, while the Arcadia boys came in sixth and the Raider girls finished seventh.

Ruiter, Jimenez, Seiling lead G-E-T boys

Sam Ruiter took part in a pair of winning results for G-E-T on Friday, winning the mile in four minutes, 46.5 seconds before helping teammates Omar Jimenez, Kyle Seiling and Elijah Sorenson win the 1600-meter relay.

Carter Repaal gave the G-E-T boys another win in the shot put, and the Red Hawks also saw Jimenez finish second in the 300-meter hurdles.

Max Knapmiller, Kyle Seiling, Brady Seiling and Charlie Mattison finished second in the 400-meter relay, and Brady Seiling was only beaten in the long jump by Viroqua’s Isaac Pratt for a second place finish there, too.

The Raider boys saw most of their success in the 1600-meter run, as teammates Nestor Badillo (second) and Cole Lockington (third) rounded out the top three with Ruiter.

Arcadia had a few other top three finishes, led by Landan Bremer’s second place run in the 100-meter dash. Ted Teske (long jump) and Trey Lyga (discus) each earned third place finishes in field events for Arcadia.

Trempealeau County athletes won four of the six girls’ field events on Friday.

Jordan Stanislowski (triple jump), Cadence Simmons (shot put) and Alayna Stendahl (long jump) helped G-E-T to second place by winning their respective events, and Stanislowski also finished third in long jump.

Arcadia junior Casidi Pehler continues to be one of the area’s premier pole vaulters and won Friday’s event with a leap of 10 feet, six inches for Arcadia’s lone win. Pehler finished second in the discus field, and teammate Jaylie Dahl also took second in both the 100 and 200-meter dash.

The Red Hawks saw multiple athletes finish inside the top three on Friday, as junior Adrianna Rotering took second in the 800 and 1600-meter runs. Teammate Ellie Gold took second in the 300-meter hurdle race.

Third place finishers for G-E-T included Stendahl (100), AJ Parker (3200), and the 400-meter relay team comprised of sophomores Kaylee Womack, Myrabelle Pretasky, Emma Schindler and Madelyn Seymour.
