Arcadia wins three of four in legion play

The Arcadia Post 17 legion baseball team scored 31 runs in four games last week, adding three more wins to their summer record.
Arcadia (5-7 this summer) split a Monday doubleheader with Black River Falls at home before a late push in the sixth inning gave Post 17 a Wednesday win over Cochrane-Fountain City.
The week ended with a blowout win over Tomah on Thursday.
Arcadia will hope to continue the wins this week with a doubleheader against Osseo-Fairchild on Tuesday and a trip to play Sparta on Thursday.

Monday’s two-game series saw Post 17 and Black River Falls each bring home nine runs to trade wins.
Arcadia got the best of the visitors in game one, scoring four quick runs in a game they finished with 13 hits.
Logan Aspenson led Arcadia with three hits, and teammates Max Sobotta, Connor Weltzien and Maverick Drazkowski each had two.
Sobotta and Carson Martin got the start for Arcadia, allowing eight hits and striking out four batters.
Game two saw the visitors take the early lead—allowing seven runs in the first inning sank Arcadia.
Each team finished with eight hits, and seven of Arcadia’s came off the bats of Carson Wozney (three), Drazkowksi (two) and Weltzien (two).

Some late game heroics gave Arcadia its second win of last week.
Arcadia and C-FC were tied 3-3 through two innings on Wednesday before the away team took a 7-5 lead into the sixth inning. The home team answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning, including a 2-RBI double from Kaiden Rotering that scored the winning runs.
Sobotta led Post 17 on offense with a pair of doubles, and three different pitchers saw time on the mound—Login Scow and Weltzien each threw three strikeouts.

It only required five hits and five innings for the hosts to score in double digits on Thursday.
Weltzien had an effective showing in the circle, restricting Tomah to two hits and striking out 12 batters.
A handful of defensive errors caused problems for Tomah, which allowed Scow to pace Arcadia with his two hits.
