Whitehall pool in need of new managers for next year

While they found a solution to open the city swimming pool this year, the Whitehall city council will need to go back to the drawing board for next summer.

Last week Tuesday, the city council was informed by pool manager Kelly Geidd, that she and her partner, Chasity Huismann, would not return to manage the Whitehall pool next year.

Geidd assured the council her passion for the job is there, but she also works other part time jobs. The pool managers suggested to the council that they consider increasing the amount of pay they can offer to a new set of managers as the search begins.

The current pool managers committed to assisting the city in their recruiting efforts and eventually in the transition process. Geidd also informed the council that most of the lifeguard staff hired this year is interested in returning next year.

The pool heater was replaced July 7 and is now keeping the water temperature comfortable, the coldest temperature recorded while the heater was down was 68 degrees.

Geidd asked for additional visits from city police, as alcohol is being snuck into the pool, this request comes as she recently found an empty bottle of Fireball whiskey in the men’s restroom.
