The annual SPRAWL prep volleyball tournament in Onalaska welcomed teams back to open the 2023 season last week at the OmniCenter, and the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau girls found their first win in the tournament.
The Red Hawks finished the two-day event with a 1-4 record, picking up a 2-1 win over Ladysmith in their lone match last Thursday.
The Red Hawks dropped their first four matches of the year to Onalaska, Northwestern, Boscobel and Straford, each by a 2-0 score.
Individual statistics for the games were not reported to the Times.
More matches are coming for G-E-T this week, as the Red Hawks opened Coulee Conference play by hosting Black River Falls on Tuesday. They will see another Coulee opponent when Luther comes to town on Thursday.
Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. starts as G-E-T seeks to build on a 2022 season that finished with a 5-17 record and a 4-8 run in the conference.
