Raiders split final two games of the regular season
The Arcadia softball team split their last two games against La Crosse area opponents to close out the regular season, falling to Onalaska on the road and defeating Aquinas at home over the past week.
The Raiders (16-9) now shift their focus to the playoffs, where they are a No. 6 seed in Division 3. If they successfully go on the road and defeat No. 3 seed Somerset, they will advance to Thursday’s regional finals to take on either No. 2 seed Prescott or No. 7 seed Nekoosa. The winner of that game plays in the sectional semifinals next Tuesday.
Onalaska 5 Arcadia 1
The Raider offense had trouble getting much of anything going in a loss to the Hilltoppers (17-5) last Monday in Onalaska.
Already trailing 5-0, Arcadia’s lone run came in the top of the sixth on a Kaitlyn Bremer sacrifice fly that scored Kiley Fitzpatrick. Tatum Drazkowski and Amaya Schlesser each had a hit in the loss.
Arcadia 8 Aquinas 5
A seven-run outburst in the bottom of the fourth allowed the Raiders to turn a 4-0 deficit into an eventual win over the Blugolds (10-12) this past Thursday in Arcadia.
That massive Raider rally featured a Chloe Schlosstein RBI single, a Megan Breska two-run single and a Tatum Drazkowski two-run triple. Drazkowski helped lead the charge at the plate for Arcadia by going 3 for 4, while Kiley Fitzpatrick, Tessah Ely, Sacia Boland and Madison Grotjahn each had two-hit performances as well.
