Waldera tops 1K career points in B-T win

The Blair-Taylor girls basketball team ended a losing streak and saw a player reach a career milestone in a 77-52 win over Alma Center Lincoln last week.

The Wildcats had a 37-32 lead at halftime, but B-T Coach Jesse Lien said his team turned up the defensive pressure and capitalized on turnovers in the second half.

“We had a great effort on defense and were extremely aggressive going to the basket,” Lien said.

Andrea Waldera led B-T with 23 points as she reached 1,000 career points on her first basket in the second half. She also pulled down 12 rebounds. Elissa Smetana added 16 points for B-T.

No further details from that game were reported before the Times went to press.

For B-T, the win snapped a two-game skid and put the team at 7-2 on the season. The Wildcats won’t play again until Jan. 6 when the team hosts undefeated Eleva-Strum.
