GMC second at home triangular

Against a pair of opponents that they compete against consistently throughout the winter, the G-E-T/Mel-Min/C-FC gymnastics co-op settled for a familiar result.

GMC finished second at a home triangular, behind the West Salem co-op and ahead of the Westby/Viroqua/Cashton/De Soto (WVCD) co-op this past Friday in Galesville. West Salem accrued a total score of 140.575 to win the tri, bettering GMC (134.925) in second and WVCD (122.925) in third.

Despite their third-place finish as a team, WVCD boasted the individual all-around winner with Peyton Sprosty posting a score of 35.6. GMC’s Jayden Thill was second at 34.4, joined in the top 10 by teammates Reesa Beilke (34.25) in fourth and Kinley Giemza (33.475) in sixth.

Thill’s best event was the vault, where she tallied a score of 9.15 to place second behind West Salem’s Olivia Maki (9.3) in first. Giemza (8.975) took fourth in that same event.

Beilke came in fourth with a score of 8.85 on the beam, an event won by West Salem’s Camdyn Lyga and her mark of 9.25. Thill finished in fifth in the floor exercise with a score of 9.2, with Izabella Bear (9.0) not far behind in seventh as well for GMC.

A trio of GMC athletes finished in a consecutive order in the uneven bars competition, with Thill (7.85) in sixth, Beilke (7.825) in seventh and Giemza (7.7) in eighth.

The Coulee Conference Tournament is set for Friday, Feb. 20 starting at 6 p.m. in Westby.
