Another candidate to run for clerk of courts

There will be a race in the fall general election after all, as a third candidate filed to run for Trempealeau County clerk of courts before last week’s deadline.

Mary Teresa Foss filed her candidacy on June 1, ahead of the 5 p.m. deadline. The Times checked the Trempealeau County Clerk’s online candidate listing before going to press on June 2, but Foss had not yet been listed.

Foss filed as a Democrat and will face either Jessica Schue or Leni Nilsestuen in the Nov. 3 general election. Schue and Nilsestuen, both Republicans, will compete in the Aug. 11 primary.

Also on the Aug. 11 ballot will be a three-way Republican primary for Trempealeau County sheriff. Incumbent Sheriff Erica Koxlien is being challenged by Wayne Dahl and Kent Johnson.
