It was a mixed bag type of weekend for the G-E-T Post 354 baseball team, who settled for fourth place at the 2026 Onalaska Legion 19U Tournament held over the course of three days from Friday to Sunday.
Westby/Coon Valley went 4-0 to claim their status as tournament champions, followed by Black River Falls in second with a 3-1 record, Fennimore in third at 2-2, G-E-T in fourth at 1-3 and Onalaska in fifth at 0-4.
Post 354 split their first two games with a loss to Westby/Coon Valley on Friday and a win over Onalaska on Saturday, but a pair of one-run Sunday losses left them in fourth at the tourney.
Earlier in the week, G-E-T blanked Stoddard in a home game. A busy week ahead for Post 354 includes home doubleheaders with Winona and BRF on Friday and Monday, respectively, followed by a road tilt with Tomah on Tuesday and a home game against Bangor on Thursday.
G-E-T 9 Stoddard 0
A six-run rally in the third inning broke things open for Post 354 in their win over Stoddard Post 315 last Monday in Galesville.
Calvin Davis, Daxson Scow and Nathan Holthaus combined for a seven-inning shutout, with only a single hit and three walks surrendered to Stoddard along the way.
At the plate for G-E-T, Davis and Caiden Brady each went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI apiece.
Westby 11 G-E-T 3
The eventual tournament champion Bandits laid down the gauntlet with five runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back in their win over G-E-T this past Friday in Onalaska.
Post 354 collected only three total hits in the loss, coming courtesy of Holthaus, Wyatt Oines and Mason Busch.
G-E-T 8 Onalaska 6
G-E-T emerged from an eventful seventh inning with their lead still intact to earn a victory over the tournament hosts last Saturday.
The two teams were locked in a 3-3 tie in the top of the fifth when Brady Hansen gave Post 354 the lead with a two-run single. G-E-T extended that advantage to 8-3 with three more runs in the top of the seventh, including a Busch RBI single and two bases-loaded walks.
Onalaska answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh and threatened to do more with the bases still loaded and only one out, but Oines retired the final two batters to preserve the win for G-E-T.
Holthaus, Hansen and Busch each picked up two hits for Post 354.
BRF 3 G-E-T 2
G-E-T could not quite muster up enough offense to win a low-scoring affair with Black River Falls Post 200 this past Sunday.
Mason Busch got the scoring started with an RBI double that drove in Oines in the bottom of the second. BRF immediately answered with a three-run rally in the top of the third. Post 354 got one back when Oines drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the fifth but Post 200 escaped without any further damage.
G-E-T had multiple runners on in both the sixth and seventh innings as well, though were unable to secure the tying run.
Holthaus finished 2 for 3 with a walk and an RBI. Chase Giemza pitched all seven innings for Post 354, allowing three runs (two earned) while punching out five.
Fennimore 5 G-E-T 4
G-E-T was unable to hold onto a late lead and suffered another frustrating one-run loss during their Sunday slate in Onalaska.
Post 354 sat ahead 4-3 through five innings, scoring twice in both the bottom of the third (including a Holthaus RBI double) and fifth. However, Fennimore manufactured a run in each of the last two innings to leapfrog ahead 5-4, and G-E-T was unable to score in the bottom of the seventh despite getting the first two runners of the inning on base.
Davis and Mitch Thell each notched a pair of hits for Post 354 in the defeat.
