No-hitter wins Pleasantville tournament

One of the top hurlers in the area came through for My Second Home as Ethan Ringlien threw a no-hitter in the championship game of the annual Pleasantville Lions Club Fourth of July Tournament on Sunday.
The tournament began Friday and concluded with the championship Sunday afternoon. The game featured two of the best area pitchers, with Ringlien getting the best of Matt Stuhr of Weiner’s Bar. Ringlien struck out nine batters and Stuhr struck out 13.
The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning, when two of the Weltzien brothers came through for My Second Home. Collin Weltzien singled and came home on a double by Curtis Weltzien. Both Weltzien brothers had two hits in the game as My Second Home finished with seven in the 1-0 win.
Ringlien only allowed one hit while striking out 12 in his team’s 7-0 semifinal win over Jacobson Electric. Miles Helgeson and Connor Weltzien both had two hits in that game. Ringlien also tossed a one-hitter in My Second Home’s 2-0 win over Pleasantville on Friday night. He struck out 13 batters, while Connor Weltzien and Matt Pronschinske hit RBI singles. My Second Home also picked up a 12-10 win over Ritter Hardware in the tournament. Collin Weltzien had three hits in the game while Helgeson, Ringlien, and Derrick Morris had two hits. Colton Sluga had two hits for Ritter Hardware.
Weiner’s began the tournament with an 11-0 win over Jacobson. Stuhr struck out seven while also hitting a two-run home run. He held Jacobson to just two hits. Weiner’s also picked up wins over Ritter Hardware, 12-2, and Pleasantville, 11-0. The Ettrick team won a rematch with Pleasantville in the semifinal round as Stuhr limited the host team to three hits while striking out 14 in a 7-1 victory.
Jacobson and Pleasantville both won one game in the tournament. Pleasantville defeated Ritter Hardware, 5-0, on Saturday morning. Shandler Herman threw a two-hitter while striking out eight. Devon McCune hit a three-run home run in Jacobson’s 7-5 win over Pleasantville on Saturday night.
