In their lone game of the last full week of the regular season, the G-E-T Post 354 Legion baseball team was unable to get anything going against La Crosse Post 52.
G-E-T suffered a 10-0 shutout loss to Post 52 in their matchup last Monday in Galesville. La Crosse wasted no time putting the pressure on, scoring four runs in the top of the first and two more runs in the second inning for an early 6-0 lead.
As it turned out, that was more than enough run support for La Crosse starting pitcher Kenden Bishofsky, who tossed six scoreless innings in which he only allowed two hits and four walks while notching three strikeouts. Landon Teachout finished off the game with a scoreless seventh inning.
Post 354’s only hits came courtesy of Adain Busch’s fourth-inning single and Nathan Holthaus’s sixth-inning double. Cash Linberg drew two walks for G-E-T while Holthaus and Calvin Davis each had one.
Teachout also helped lead the charge at the plate for La Crosse, going 4 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
G-E-T is set to take part in a Class A regional later this week at Veterans Memorial Field in Westby. Post 354 plays Viroqua in the opening game on Thursday and 5 p.m., with Bangor vs. Westby to follow. Play will continue on Friday and Saturday.
The Class A State Tournament is scheduled to run from Friday, July 31 to Tuesday, August 4 at St. Feriole Island Park in Prairie du Chien.
