Armella R. Skoyen

 

Armella Ruth Skoyen, 88, of Lake Hallie, WI, formerly of Osseo, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Lake Hallie Memory Care. She was born February 18, 1938, in Northfield, WI, to Reider and Alleda (Hanson) Knutson. She attended school in Whitehall and married her high school sweetheart, Allen Skoyen, on November 8, 1955, in Pigeon Falls. 

Armella and Allen made their home in King’s Valley and raised seven children. In addition to being a homemaker and mother, over the years Armella worked at Speich’s Pharmacy in Osseo, PHB in rural Osseo in toothbrush manufacturing and as an office manager for King’s Valley Ag.

She was a longtime member of King’s Valley Lutheran Church and enjoyed serving on the ladies’ auxiliary there. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Armella and Allen enjoyed their trips to Harlingen, TX, and to the family namesake in Skoyen, Norway. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time on the front porch Allen built for her.

Armella loved the two golden retrievers that adopted her after Allen’s passing. She was also an avid fan of the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. Her favorite games to attend were her grandchildren’s. She loved her time with them and was known for always keeping a full cookie jar when they visited. She will be deeply missed.

Armella is survived by her seven children: Alana Skoyen, Mark Skoyen, Gary (Julie) Skoyen, all of Osseo, Layne (Julie) Skoyen of Hastings, MN, Jon (Lisa Huempfner) Skoyen of Eau Claire, Eric (Lisa) Skoyen, and Amy (Trevor) Vold, all of Osseo; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-sisters: Alva Anaas and Charlene (Randy) Maurer; two brothers-in-law: Lyle (Patricia) Skoyen and Curtis (Carol) Skoyen; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; parents; stepmother, Alleta Knutson; three siblings: Lavina (Harold) Aanerud, Theron (Avis) Knutson, and Arlyn (Elaine) Knutson; and stepbrother-in-law, Gerald Anaas.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Armella’s name are appreciated to King’s Valley Lutheran Church or the Dementia Society of America (dementiasociety.org).

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at King’s Valley Lutheran Church in rural Osseo with Pastor David Christianson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo, and on Thursday at the church, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
