Curtis D. Beck

Curtis Duane Beck, 74, of rural Blair, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 7, 2025, at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.
Curtis was born November 26, 1950, at Black River Memorial Hospital, to Curtis and Doris Beck of Taylor. Curtis grew up with a deep love for family and the land. He married Charrolet Olson, April 22, 1972, and together they raised six children.
After finishing school in Taylor, Curtis served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 – 1971, stationed at Moffett Field, CA, where he worked on the airstrip. Curtis was particularly proud of his military service. After returning home, Curtis started his career as a farmer. He worked with dairy cattle and later transitioned to cash cropping before becoming a logger, a job he proudly did for 32 years. Through it all, Curtis found joy in the outdoors, from tending to his orchard of apple, peach and pear trees to hunting Whitetail in Wisconsin and Minnesota, elk in Colorado, and fishing for red horse and walleye. He also enjoyed spending time at his favorite local breakfast spots and attending Friday night fish fries with Charrolet. Curtis was often there to cheer on his grandchildren at their sporting events, and his love for his community was unwavering.
In addition to his hard work, Curtis had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a smart comment or an old Ole and Lena joke to make people laugh. His wit and lightheartedness brought joy to everyone around him. He was a fan of classic country music, particularly Willy’s Roadhouse, and enjoyed a good game of horseshoes. Curtis loved an adventure, whether it was shooting guns, throwing darts or just enjoying a laugh with friends and family. His zest for life and his laughter will live on through his family and the many memories he created along the way.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Charrolet; his children: Tracy Beck, Dan (Bambi) Beck, Heidi (Mike) Gehri, Matt (Ashley) Beck and Justin (Marcy) Beck; his daughter-in-law, Amy Beck; his mother-in-law, Mavis Olson; his sisters: Geneva Bryhn, and Lee Donna (Jeff) Stevens; a brother- in-law, Dale Olson; his sisters-in-law: Eileen Fremstad, Kathleen Kimble, Arlene (Dick) Frerks, Lee Ann Beck and Gloria Beck.
Curtis was also a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren: Sami, Halaynna, Hayden, Aaliyah, Tyanna, J’Amy, Brynden, Andi, Logan, Mathew, Alex, Taylor, Rennie, Jake; and two great-grandchildren: Ivan and Trinity. He will be greatly missed by both family and friends who loved him dearly.
