Dorothy A. Guenther

Dorothy Ann Guenther, 89, of Rochester, MN, died September 5, 2022, at The Homestead of Rochester Senior Living.

Dorothy was born July 25, 1933, to Jennings and Lenora (Brenengan) Holstad in Galesville. Dorothy grew up in Galesville and graduated from high school in 1951. She went on to attend La Crosse Technical School. Dorothy married Dale Guenther, December 6, 1952, at French Creek Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick. She and Dale traveled as Dale was enlisted in the U.S. Navy and have lived in Norman, OK; Memphis, TN; and San Diego, CA. They then lived in Madison, making their way to Rochester, MN, in 1962. Dorothy worked at Rochester Methodist Hospital and Crenlo.

She is survived by her sons: David Guenther and Doug (Jodi) Guenther of Rochester, MN; two grandchildren: Sean Atherton-Guenther and James (fiancé Kim Meyerhofer) Atherton-Guenther; and two great grandchildren: Michael and Jordy.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; sister, Florence Holstad; and granddaughter-in-law, Kendra Atherton-Guenther.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Bethel Lutheran Church. A visitation was held Monday, September 12, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN 55901, and continued one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Blair.
