Erva Jo Dahl

Erva Jo (Peterson) Dahl, 85, of Blair (at right: pictured in center), passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Emplify Health in La Crosse.
Erva Jo was born April 18, 1940, to Alf C. and Clara (Halverson) Peterson in Blair. Erva Jo graduated from Blair High School in 1958. On March 11, 1961, she married DeVere Dahl at Zion Lutheran Church in Blair. They were lifelong residents of Blair, where they raised their four daughters. DeVere preceded Erva Jo in death, April 29, 2020.
Erva Jo was a stay-at-home mom until all of her daughters were of school age. She was active with Girl Scouts and the MNC Club. Making clothes for herself and her daughters was something she took great pride in. In the late 1970s, she began her working career outside of the home and was employed at the Trempealeau County ASCS Office and Farm Service Agency until her retirement in 2002. After retiring, she cherished the opportunity to be able to take care of several of her grandchildren over the course of the next 20+ years.
Together, Erva Jo and DeVere enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She was a devoted Dodgers fan and loved going to her grandchildren’s sporting events. In her free time, you would often find Erva Jo doing puzzles, tending to her flowers or watching some of her many favorite recorded TV shows.
Erva Jo is survived by her four daughters: DeAnn (Brian) Brost of Blair, Wendy (Vern) Tranberg of West Salem, Cynthia (Dennis) Stephenson of Blair and Gwen (Aaron) Kidd of Blair; grandchildren: Nathan (Hannah) Dahl, Kyle Tranberg, Jonathan (Tiffany) Graff, Andrew (Taija) Graff, Lauren, Leah and Benjamin Kidd; great-grandchildren: Colby, Tenley and Nataley Dahl, Addelynn, Tucker and Hazely Graff, Piper and Barrett Graff.
In addition to her husband, Erva Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Alf and Clara Peterson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herschel and Merle Dahl; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Monte and Cheryl Bluske.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Blair Lutheran Church West with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, both in Blair.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Jack Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
