Gertie E. Erickson

 

Gertie Evelyn Erickson, 95, of Blair, died Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Gertie was born September 28, 1926, in Ettrick, to Emil and Gina (Tranberg) Onsrud. She married Raymond Erickson, November 16, 1946, at French Creek Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick. Raymond preceded Gertie in death April 9, 1973.

Gertie was a faithful member of the Living Hope Lutheran Church WELCA and the church quilting group. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Gertie loved baking for friends and family, especially chocolate chip cookies and brownies. Flower gardening was her summer joy.

Gertie is survived by a son, James (Betsy) Erickson of rural Ettrick; a daughter, Jean (Wayne) Wilber of Onalaska; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gertie was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Erickson; a daughter, Barbara Starkey; a grandson, Leif Erickson; a step-granddaughter, Jessica Starkey; two sisters: Mabel Engelien and Selma Hoff; a brother, Henry Onsrud; and a special niece, Audrey Berg.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., at Living Hope Lutheran Church in Ettrick. Pastor John Ashland officiated. Burial was in Ettrick Public Cemetery in rural Ettrick.

Friends could call from noon until the time of service.

Memorials may be designated to Living Hope Lutheran Church or the Ettrick Public Cemetery.
