James A. Ringlien

 

James Arthur Ringlien passed from this life, Sunday, January 29, 2023.

James was born March 20, 1939, to Arthur and Clara Ringlien, a Norwegian-American couple, and was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. His parents owned a farm in Daggett Coulee, a/k/a Moe Coulee, that was homesteaded in 1876. This date was recorded in oil paint over the door of the granary which must have been the first building the immigrants built. James experienced the final days of driving horses and raising tobacco in his community.

James graduated from Daggett School which was a one-room school with one teacher for eight grades. He graduated with honors from Whitehall Memorial High School in 1957.

James had a penchant for science and graduated from Luther College with a major in Physics. Upon graduation, he was offered a job as a physicist with Owens Illinois Glass Company in Toledo, OH. He remained at that job for 53 years.

James enjoyed belonging to a rifle club that competed in Camp Perry type target shooting. He collected all sorts of unusual gadgets and scientific equipment.

James was a morally upright person with a strong faith in the atonement that Jesus Christ made for his sins. James is survived by his brother, Paul.
