Ronald “Ron” R. Guenther

 

Ronald R. Guenther, 84, passed away September 21, 2022, at his home near Farmington, MN. He had battled various cancers for eight years.

Ron was born April 22, 1938, on a dairy farm in rural Fountain City to Henry and Bernice (Ratz) Guenther. He attended country school in Eagle Valley and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1956. Ron served in the U.S. Marines from 1956 – 1959, and later farmed with his father; worked in a foundry in Milwaukee and worked at a feed mill in Arcadia. Ron received an electrical engineering degree from UW-Madison and was employed by the Unisys Corporation in St. Paul, MN, for 34 years. He was married to Leatrice Thompson in 1963. They had three children.

Ron is survived by his wife, Leatrice (Thompson) Guenther; children: Leann (Kevin) Hagen, Rodney (Missy) Guenther and Rory (Heidi) Guenther; five grandchildren; Jim Guenther, uncle; and 20 first cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Edith Thompson and Karen Belden; and brother, Loyal.

A memorial service was held September 30, 2022, at Farmington Lutheran Church.
