Ruth A. Wegman

 

Ruth Ann Wegman, 78, of Arcadia, died peacefully, Monday, January 6, 2025, in Blair, under the outstanding care of Grand View Care Center and St. Croix Hospice.

Ruth was born December 6, 1946, to Paul and Euphrosine (Giemza) Sobieck. She was raised on their family farm in rural Independence. On January 25, 1964, Ruth married Donald Wegman at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and together had three children: John, Mary and Robert. They later divorced.

Ruth held several jobs over the years, working at Ashley Furniture, Pat’s Country Market, Arcadia Public Schools and Lake Center Industries. She loved the thrill of garage sales and was truly the queen of thrifting. No one could match her eye for a good find! Selfless and full of energy, Ruth embraced Polish traditions, which played an important role in her life.

Ruth also enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing cards and BINGO. She loved the excitement of gambling and greatly cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Ruth also had a special talent for playing the accordion.

Ruth is survived by her children: John (Sheryl) Wegman, Mary (Dennis Guenther) Wegman, and Robert Wegman; grandchildren: Zach Law, Allysen (Luis “Manny” Montalvo) Montalvo Law, Heidi Guenther, Anne (Mitch) Peterson, Tanner Strumness, Francine Guenther, Asher Guenther, Raven Wegman, Cole Wegman, Carter Wegman, and Presley Wegman; many great-grandchildren; siblings: Marie Conrad and Robert “Bob” Sobieck; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Esther Bisek and Elizabeth “Betty” Dascher; brothers: Ray, Everett “Poopsie”, Ralph, Adrian and Duane Sobieck; sister-in-law, Marilyn Sobieck; and brothers-in-law: Eldon Conrad and Dallas Dascher.
