Wallace was born May 16, 1932, in rural Whitehall, to Elmer and Florence (Kurth) Ryan. He married Shirley Johnson, October 10, 1951, in Whitehall. Shirley preceded Wallace in death, November 1, 2017.

Wallace did farming with his wife and sons his whole life, but also worked as a butcher and worked at Whitehall Agriculture. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his wife and family. Also, he would help neighbors and family with farming quite a bit. Wally enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table with his wife, watching birds at the bird feeders and identifying what they were. He also enjoyed watching the dogs and cats running around and playing and watching his grandkids run around. He enjoyed taking the side-by-side or four-wheeler on top of the hill to look at the scenery and crops. Wally also enjoyed helping his son and grandson clean deer and cut them up and clean fish when they caught some.

Wallace is survived by two sons: Gene and Scott Ryan; his grandchildren: Scotrena and Trenton Ryan, (children of Scott), Chandler and Camron Ryan, (children of Gene) and Mason (son of Glen) who has passed recently; and a sister, Shirley Mathson. Wallace is also survived by many nieces, nephews friends and family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Wallace was preceded in death by a son, Glen; his brother, Elmer Ryan Jr.; his sister, Lucille Manka; two brothers-in-law: Broney Manka and John Mathson; and many sisters and brothers-in-laws.
