Arcadia baseball falls in regional
The Arcadia High School baseball team saw its season come to a close last week.
The fifth-seeded Raiders (13-9 this season) fell at the hands of fourth-seeded Abbotsford/Colby last Tuesday in a 9-4 regional playoff loss on the road.
Arcadia claimed the game’s first lead on a Vince Braun double in the top of the second inning that scored Devon Baier. The hosts took the lead back in the bottom of the same inning, scoring three runs.
A late push and two runs in the top of the seventh fell short for the Raiders in their comeback bid.
Abbotsford/Colby (11) out-hit Arcadia (nine) on Tuesday and saw a pair of players finish with three hits.
Arcadia was led in hits by Baier and Maverick Drazkowski, each with a pair. Braun and Caleb Glenzinski both had a double for the Raiders.
Senior Connor Weltzien pitched five innings for the visitors and allowed nine hits and seven earned runs while striking out eight batters and walking five others.
