Arcadia, G-E-T kick off new season at Trempealeau Mountain
In the first taste of action in the 2025-26 high school sports season for Trempealeau County schools, the Arcadia and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau girls golf teams hit the course for their first meet of the new year.
Both the Raiders and the Red Hawks competed at last Tuesday’s Trempealeau Mountain Invitational hosted at Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club. The Tomah Timberwolves dominated the day, posting a winning score of 333 that was 42 strokes clear of runner-up Onalaska and its score of 375.
Arcadia finished in ninth with a cumulative score of 469 and G-E-T took 11th at 577.
In the individual standings, the top five consisted entirely of Tomah golfers: senior Karma Hasselberger with a 77, junior Camryn Eirschele with an 82, sophomore Kaydence Hasselberger and junior Annabelle Gast each with an 86 and junior Cadence Scholze with an 88.
A quartet of juniors competed for Arcadia at Trempealeau Mountain: Riley Walters with her team-best total of 112 along with Kalyce Sobotta (113), Amaya Schlesser (115) and Sacia Boland (129). G-E-T senior Jazlynn Olson led her team by carding a 118 while junior Madeline Ruud and sophomores Julia Baures, Bianca Casey and Eva Schubert all competed as well for the Red Hawks.
Boland, Schlesser, Sobotta and Walters are all returning golfers for the Raiders and second-year head coach Rylee Haines, along with new additions to the program Chloe Schlosstein, Abby Slaby and Ella Mullikin.
Haines, a 2020 graduate of Arcadia, was a four-year starter for the Raiders and was named the Coulee Conference Player of the Year in both 2018 and 2019 before continuing her golf career in college at Viterbo University.
Though the Arcadia roster is filled with players who are still relatively new to the game of golf, Haines says it’s a group that gets along well and is eager to learn.
“It’s a pretty good group of girls,” Haines said. “I think they have a good camaraderie, which builds a lot of team spirit and team growth. And I think with the four returners, they’re good leaders, so that is super helpful.”
