Arcadia Post 17 doubles up Tomah

Faced with a 3-3 deadlock with two innings of baseball remaining, Arcadia Post 17 secured three late scores to pull away from Tomah in a 6-3 legion baseball victory last week.

Arcadia (4-2 this summer) is scheduled to play in Bangor this Wednesday and visits rival Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau this Thursday.

Arcadia 6 Tomah 3

Arcadia broke open last Monday’s contest at Arcadia High School in the third inning.

Jordan Rotering started the scoring on a sacrifice fly. Max Sobotta made it 2-0 thanks to an RBI triple from Connor Weltzien in the next at-bat, and Weltzien made it 3-0 by stealing home.

Tomah scored twice in the fourth inning and once in the fifth to tie the game.

A sixth-inning Sobotta single scored Devon Baier to give the lead back to Post 17, which closed the scoring with a two-run double from Brandon Sylla.

Sylla picked up the win for Post 17, securing 10 strikeouts in five innings of pitching. Sylla allowed three hits and two walks while surrendering two earned runs.

Weltzien and Sobotta pitched one frame apiece, striking out four Tomah batters to bring Post 17’s strikeout total to 14.
