Arcadia softball falls to pair of conference teams

Last week saw a pair of Coulee Conference losses for the Arcadia High School softball team.
The Raiders put up a fight against Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau last Tuesday (see story elsewhere in Sports) but fell in walk-off fashion before Black River Falls took a 7-3 win over the Raiders on Thursday.
Arcadia (3-14 overall, 2-10 Coulee) was scheduled to play Regis on Monday, followed by a matchup with Cochrane-Fountain City the following day.
Eighth-seeded Nekoosa (4-10 this season) will host the ninth-seeded Raiders on Thursday in a regional playoff opener.
BR Falls 7 Arcadia 3
A sixth-inning push was not enough for Arcadia against the Tigers on Thursday at home.
The Raiders faced a four-run hole through five innings before ripping off three scores of their own to make it a one run game in the sixth inning.
Black River Falls (5-9, 3-8 Coulee) put a quick end to the hope, though, by matching those three runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Eight errors put Arcadia at a disadvantage in the game, one that saw Kaitlyn Bremer led the hosts with two hits, and teammates Kanah Slaby and Whitney Sonsalla each hit a double.
Bremer tossed six strikeouts while walking no batters and allowed zero earned runs behind the errors. The sophomore held Black River Falls to four hits.
