Arcadia volleyball team swept by Panthers, Knights
For the first time during the 2025 season, the Arcadia volleyball team suffered a straight-set loss in Coulee Conference play. Two days after the first, the Raiders were swept again by a Coulee opponent.
In their final two home matches of the regular season, Arcadia fell in three sets to two of the conference’s top teams: West Salem and Onalaska Luther.
After the Raiders (16-15, 3-6 Coulee) attempt to avenge an earlier five-set loss against Westby to begin the week, they are out on the road to take another crack at the Panthers Thursday at 5 p.m. in West Salem. They then finish off the regular season with a rivalry tilt against G-E-T next Thursday in Galesville at 7 p.m.
West Salem 3 Arcadia 0
Arcadia could not get over the hump in any set of their Coulee clash with the first-place Panthers last Tuesday at the Wanek Center.
West Salem swept the Raiders 25-16, 25-21, 25-15 in the first meeting between the two teams this fall. Arcadia’s stat leaders for the night included Tatum Drazkowski with 10 kills and 12 digs, Adella Anderson with 17 assists and Justine Sonsalla with 13 digs.
Last Tuesday’s victory moved the Panthers to 6-1 in conference play with five matches still left. That remaining slate features showdowns with Luther and Viroqua, where major conference title ramifications will hang in the balance.
Luther 3 Arcadia 0
Despite making incremental progress in each set, the Raiders were unable to save themselves from a sweep at the hands of the Knights this past Thursday in Arcadia.
A slow start for Arcadia put them on their heels early, with Luther breezing to a 25-9 win in the opening set and following it up with another dominant 25-13 victory in the second. Though the Raiders put forth a better effort in the third, the Knights still took it 25-20 to close out the match.
Drazkowski and Jaylie Dahl registered six kills apiece in the defeat, with Sonsalla and Anderson recording 19 and 13 digs, respectively.
In the first matchup between the two teams back on Sept. 11 in Onalaska, Luther won in a more competitive four sets 25-22, 25-27, 25-19, 27-25.
