B-T softball team slugs out five wins

The Blair-Taylor softball team scored at least eight runs in five wins last week.
The Wildcats fell behind Stratford early, but rallied for a 10-6 win on Monday. They swept Whitehall, 8-0 and 18-1, in a doubleheader on Tuesday before picking up wins of 9-3 over C-FC on Thursday and 10-2 over Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Friday.
B-T began this week with a 10-1 record (9-0 in Dairyland Conference play) before they hosted Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau on Monday and Eleva-Strum for a doubleheader on Tuesday. They’re set to play at Cochrane-Fountain City on Thursday and Independence/Gilmanton on Friday before competing in a tournament hosted by Arcadia on Saturday. They’ll play a doubleheader against Alma Center Lincoln this coming Tuesday.
B-T 10 Stratford 6
The Wildcats fell behind big early, but outscored the Tigers 10-1 the rest of the game.
Errors helped Stratford score four runs in the third and one more in the fourth as they went ahead 5-0. However, two Stratford errors helped B-T plate three runs to start their comeback in the bottom of the fourth.
B-T tied the game on an RBI single by Callie Wagner in the fifth. Lydia Frederixon tripled to give B-T the lead. After two more runs scored on an error, Lindsay Steien tripled to bring in two more, putting B-T ahead 10-5.
The Tigers scored one run in the seventh and had runners on second and third, but B-T got out of the jam.
Steien got the win, pitching the final three innings with two hits and one walk allowed, while striking out one. Abby Thompson pitched the first four innings, striking out six without a walk. All six of Stratford’s runs were unearned.
Frederixon had three hits for B-T while Steien and Wagner both had two.
B-T 8 Whitehall 0
The Norse had trouble catching up to Steien as she pitched shutout with nine strikeouts, while allowing just one hit and one walk.
The Wildcats scored three runs in the bottom of the first as they got consecutive hits with two outs before a passed ball and an error allowed two runs to come home. Another run scored on another error.
Another error plated another run in the second before Kierstyn Kindschy doubled two home in the third. Steien added a two-run single later in the inning.
The game was just five innings as the first half of a doubleheader.

B-T 18 Whitehall 1
B-T’s offense was rolling in the second half of the doubleheader.
After two runs in the first inning, the Wildcats were patient in the second, working for seven walks that helped five runs score. Sydney Fremstad later added an RBI single that made the score 10-0 before Steien sprinted around the bases for a three-run inside the park home run. Lexi Lofgren added an RBI double that put B-T ahead 14-0 after the top half of the second.
Whitehall’s only run of the doubleheader came to start the bottom of the second when Carson Coburn tripled and scored on a throw. That was Whitehall’s only hit in the game.
B-T added three more in the third and the game ended, by rule, after three innings.
Thompson got the win, striking out four without a walk. She also led B-T at the plate with three hits.
Steien had three RBIs while Landonn Daffinson, Thompson, Lofgren and Fremstad all batted in two.
B-T 9 C-FC 3
Five runs in the second inning put B-T ahead as they held on for the win.
The Wildcats got three consecutive run-scoring hits from Thompson, Lofgren and Wagner as they took a 5-0 lead in the second. C-FC cut into the lead with two runs in the third, but B-T maintained control.
Thompson added another RBI single in the fourth before Wagner doubled in a run. Madalynn Frederixon singled in another run, making the score 8-2.
Errors were a problem for B-T in the game as one allowed a run to score in the sixth. They committed four errors in the game. B-T got that run back in the bottom half of the inning when Thompson scored on a groundout hit by Wagner.
Wagner and Thompson both had three hits and three RBIs for B-T. Madalynn Frederixon also had three hits as they managed 12 as a team.
Steien got the start in the circle, pitching the first three innings and striking out five while allowing four hits. Thompson tossed the final four, striking out seven with four hits allowed. Neither allowed a walk.
B-T 10 ECI 2
A six-run fourth inning broke a tie game and sparked the Wildcats to the win.
The team were tied, 1-1, before Kierstyn Kindschy singled in two runs. Steien added an RBI single before Thompson brought two home with a double. Another run scored on an error, putting B-T ahead 7-1.
The Lancers got one run back in the bottom half of the inning, but B-T responded with one in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Lydia Frederixon led B-T with three hits while Kindschy added two with three RBIs and Steien also had two.
Thompson got the win, pitching six innings with nine strikeouts while holding ECI to three hits and no walks. Steien pitched a perfect seventh, striking out one.
