C-FC takes early DC golf lead, Whitehall in second place

Through three competitions, there seems to be a clear top team in the Dairyland Conference golf standings.

Cochrane-Fountain City won the match at Strum by 22 strokes, its own match by 17 then a match at Osseo by 26. While Whitehall was a good distance behind C-FC, it was also well ahead of the third-place team — Eleva-Strum — in both competitions, finishing 25 strokes ahead of the Cardinals on Tuesday and 23 strokes better on Thursday. On Friday, however, E-S and Whitehall tied for second place at Augusta’s home match held in Osseo. 

Independence finished fifth in Strum and Osseo and sixth in Cochrane. 

The next DC competition is set to be held in Whitehall this coming Monday before the teams play in Arcadia on Tuesday. 

DC at E-S

The Pirates finished well ahead of the field, while Whitehall took second.

C-FC was the only team to break 200, fishing at 182 while Whitehall shot a 204, Alma/Pepin, 227; Eleva-Strum, 229 and Independence, 290.

Keanu Estenson led Whitehall with a 47, two strokes better than Michael Payne while Matthew Poulos shot a 51. Grant Olson and Kaiden Gaier both shot 53. Drake Jurowski added a 55.

Mitch Halverson led Independence with a 55 while Charlie Baize shot a 64; Ethan Bouzek, 76 and Max Dejno, 95.

Cameron Lipinski of C-FC was the medalist with a 38.

DC at C-FC

The Pirates were far ahead of the pack again as Whitehall settled into second.

C-FC won its home meet with a 158 while Whitehall was second with 175 followed by 

Eleva-Strum, 198; Alma/Pepin, 208; Augusta, 270; Independence, 275 and Gilmanton, 313. 

Estenson and Jurowski both shot 42s to lead Whitehall. Kaiden Gaier finished with a 44, Olson came in with a 45, one stroke better than Poulos while Payne shot a 48. 

Halverson led Independence with a 43, three strokes better than Baize. Bouzek shot a 77 and Dejno an 89. 

DC at Augusta

The Pirates were well ahead of the pack with a 172 while both Whitehall and E-S came in with 198s.

Estenson’s 45 led Whitehall while Kaehl Baken and Jurowski both came in with 49s and Olson shot a 50. Gaier finished with a 54 and Payne scored a 63 for the Norse.

Baize led the Indees with a 58, Halverson shot a 69; Bouzek, 74 and Dejno, 90.
