Dahl, Sanchez earn second-place finishes at Blue Devil Invite
The Arcadia track and field team did not have a boatload of high placements at the loaded Blue Devil Invite last week, but a pair of Raider seniors earned spots just off the top of the podium.
Jaylie Dahl and Jerson Sanchez each notched a second-place finish at the meet held last Tuesday at the University of Wisconsin–Stout’s Sports & Fitness Center in Menomonie.
After finishing in second in the girls’ 55-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.54 seconds, Dahl maintained her position in the finals and shaved five hundredths of a second off her time with a mark of 7.49 seconds. Dahl was only bested by Wausau West senior Maci Heise in both the prelims and finals.
Sanchez was third in the boys’ 55-meter hurdles with his time of 8.57 seconds behind Wausau West senior Cullin Quance and Edgar senior Tucker Streit. Sanchez shaved nearly a quarter of a second off his mark for the finals to place second at 8.34 seconds. Quance won the event while Streit was scratched from the finals.
Additionally for the Raider boys, junior Trevor Pronschinske placed fifth in the 400-meter dash and junior Nathan Badillo added a point to the team’s ledger by taking eighth in the 3,200-meter run.
The Arcadia boys finished in a tie for 12th in the team standings with 13 points. Chippewa Falls won the meet with 64 points, just ahead of Eau Claire North in second with 62.
The Raiders were tied for 17th in the girls’ team standings with eight points. The Wausau West girls won with 83.5 points while Menomonie took second with 68.5.
Arcadia’s first meet of the new month will take place next Tuesday in Tomah starting at 4 p.m.
