Ettrick team wins Pleasantville tournament

Two of the best softball pitchers in the area squared off as Matt Stuhr of Weiner’s Bar tossed a shutout to beat My Second Home ace Ethan Ringlien for the championship game of the Pleasantville Lions Club’s Fourth of July Tournament.

Stuhr allowed just one hit and struck out 14 in the championship game for the Ettrick team. Ringlien wasn’t far off as he also struck out 14 and allowed four hits for his Pigeon Falls-based squad. But one of the hits Ringlien allowed was a three-run double hit by Chip Timm in the second inning. Weiner’s scored again in the fourth and held on for a 4-0 win.

Both teams went 3-0 in the tournament’s pool play. Weiner’s beat Cushing, 5-1; Pleasantville Lions, 10-1, and Foster Fireside, 5-0. They beat Foster again, 6-3, in the semifinal. My Second Home opened with a 4-0 win over Jacobson Electric, then beat Pleasantville, 3-0, and Foster, 12-1. The team beat Jacobson Electric again, 8-1, in the semifinal round.

Pleasantville, Cushing, and Jacobson all went 1-2 in the tournament, and Foster was 0-3.
