Quinn Wenthe used some home cooking to earn a pair of high finishes at the Sporty Salsman track and field invite at G-E-T High School last Friday.
The G-E-T senior took home the top spot in the 100 meter hurdles as well as a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles event. She led the Red Hawk girls to a third place finish with 76 team points, behind only Holmen (110.5) and Onalaska (98). Arcadia tied Melrose-Mindoro for 13th place with five points.
Arcadia’s boys team placed ninth with 22 points, just behind G-E-T in sixth with 36.5. La Crosse Logan won the top spot with 134.5 points.
Wenthe wasn’t the only Red Hawk to finish with a win on the girls’ side–the 3200 relay team of seniors Tauna Janssen, Avali Bratberg and Aleah Hunter, as well as sophomore Adrianna Rotering, also took first place, beating second-place Holmen by seven seconds.
Red Hawk sophomore Kaylee Hauge was beaten only by Onalaska’s Isabela Gutierrez to take second in the 400 meter dash, and G-E-T’s Elijah Sorenson finished second in the boys’ 400. Hauge finished fourth in the 200, too.
Rotering took third in the mile, and teammates Jordan Stanislowski (triple jump) and Kylie Schmitz (discus) had third place finishes as well.
Arcadia had multiple top three finishes in the boys’ division on Friday.
Ryan Sokup finished second in the 100 meter dash, and the Raiders’ 3200 meter relay team of Jose Monroy, Cole Lockington, Nestor Badillo and Drew Teske also took second.
Sokup finished his day by helping the 400 meter relay team to a third place finish.
Both Arcadia and G-E-T are slated to compete in the Coulee/South Central Conference meet in West Salem on Friday.
