G-E-T legion loses two in regional

While it entered the tournament as one of the top seeds, the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau American Legion Post 354 baseball team went 0-2 in the Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Class A Osseo regional last weekend.
Post 354 fell behind early in its first game, eventually losing to Osseo Post 324, 11-4. The G-E-T team still had a chance to make noise in the double-elimination tournament, but lost to Whitehall, 3-1, on Saturday to end its season (see story elsewhere in Sports).
The G-E-T summer team finished the season with a 12-12 record.

A five-run third put Osseo in control.
The first two runs scored on one error and a third scored on another. A squeeze play made the score 4-0 before an RBI single put Osseo ahead by five runs.
Post 324 added another run without a hit in the fourth as they worked for three walks and plated a run on a wild pitch.
G-E-T made the game interesting in the fifth as Owen Eddy singled in two runs, though Osseo got one back in the bottom half of the inning.
Post 354 got back within four when a run scored on a wild pitch in the sixth, but they couldn’t keep up with Osseo as the eventual tournament runner-up scored four in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.
It was an all-around struggle for G-E-T as they managed just two hits at the plate while committing six errors and allowing seven walks.
Myles Marley struck out nine and only allowed one earned run in 4.2 innings, but took the loss. Osseo managed three hits off of him and he walked five batters.
