GMC co-op qualifies for team state gymnastics
For the first time in four years, the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau/Melrose-Mindoro/Cochrane-Fountain City co-op is headed to the state gymnastics meet as a team.
To earn a trip to Wisconsin Rapids for state, the GMC co-op first had to make a trip to Wisconsin Rapids for a Division 2 sectional meet last Friday.
As a team, they finished first in the floor competition (36.325), second in both the vault (35.025) and beam (32.550) and third on the bars (32.850). That was good enough for an all-around score of 136.750, allowing GMC to finish in first place and capture the sectional title ahead of Marshfield (135.175) in second.
GMC’s Taylor Gallup placed second in the individual all-around leaderboard (35.750), second in the floor competition (9.500), third in the vault (8.950), fourth in the bars (8.800) and fifth in the beam (8.500).
Other all-around individual scores for the GMC co-op included Jayden Thill with 34.725, Reesa Beilke with 33.325 and Tori Thoma with 32.950. Thill placed fifth overall in both the vault (8.800) and on the bars (8.775).
GMC now advances to take part in the 2025 WIAA State Gymnastics Meet to be held this weekend at the Lincoln High School Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Rapids. The team competition is set for Friday starting at noon.
