I/G baseball season ends in Cashton
The Independence/Gilmanton baseball team fell behind early and couldn’t get on the board as its season ended with a 5-0 loss to Cashton last Thursday.
No. 5 Cashton scored two runs in each of the first two innings, then added another in the third. No. 12 I/G would blank them the rest of the way, but the Indees’ bats remained quiet.
I/G had six hits in the game as both Ricky Lopez and Eli Pape had two.
Ricky Lopez took the loss, allowing 10 hits and two walks, while striking out two in four innings. Chase Back pitched the next 1.2 innings, striking out three, while allowing two walks and two hits. Preston Solberg got the final out for I/G as he struck out one and walked one.
The Indees finished the season with a 1-17 record.
